Mike, who tragically passed away last weekend, was due to appear in MTV’s Ex On The Beach later this year.

However, the channel has decided to scrap the series as a sign of respect to Mike’s loved ones.

The channel made a statement on Wednesday: “We were very sad to hear the tragic news about Mike Thalassitis and our thoughts are with his family and friends”.

“In light of the news of Mike’s death, we have decided not to broadcast the planned tenth season of the show.”

Mike had joined the dating show last September after his fiery split from Megan McKenna.

He reportedly signed up in the hopes of getting his love life “back on track”.

The show had recently finished filming shortly before the TV star was tragically found hanged in a North London park. Mike used to play there when he was a child.

An insider spoke to The Sun and explained that bosses “agreed it would be insensitive to Mike’s friends and family” to air the series.

“It’s not a decision they have taken lightly as series like this do not come cheap,” the source added.

The decision also comes as the reality TV industry is currently being criticised by former contestants for the level of aftercare it offers.

Mike’s former Love Island co-star Jonny Mitchell had even started a petition, requesting that ITV studios develop a “new duty of care for show contestants going on Love Island – and for other reality shows to follow too.”

Meanwhile Gogglebox star Chris Ashby-Steed branded the issue an “industry-wide failing” and former Love Island contestant Zara Holland slammed the programme for failing to change anything since her friend Sophie Gradon died a year prior.

In response to this backlash, Love Island have promised to improve the services they offer stars after leaving the show. They have also released a lengthy statement on the changes they will be making.
