ALESHA Dixon has ignored the latest Britain’s Got Talent controversy as she showed off her BLM necklace in a new Instagram video.
The 41-year-old appeared on Saturday’s pre-recorded semi-final wearing a striking off the shoulder yellow mini dress and a statement gold necklace which featured the initials for Black Lives Matter.
Her jewellery choice came after the show received the most Ofcom complaints in a decade after Diversity’s BLM-inspired dance routine two weeks ago.
The performance received more than 24,000 complaints and a lot of the same people took issue with Alesha making a statement in more ways than one with her accessories this week.
One wrote online: “Shouldnt of been allowed to wear that last night we dont need in forced in our faces.”
Another posted on Twiter: “bgt alesha’s necklace disgusting. Why are you allowing political statements. #AleshaDixon if #SimonCowell was there I don’t think you’d be wearing it.”
A third added: “Is alesha ‘s necklace really necessary what about white lives matter too #BGT.”
Thankfully Alesha took no notice of the latest furore surrounding the show and her necklace, and shared a video giving a closer look at the piece on her Instagram today.
The clip shows her getting her make-up topped up and her zooming in on her chest to highlight the gold BLM letters.
Her choice of jewellery was applauded by most of the viewers watching, with one writing on Twitter: “Why are some weirdos hurt about the beautiful Alesha Dixon wearing a necklace. Well done to Alesha Dixon. Seriously you want to boycott bgt because of a necklace that’s crazy!”
Another tweeted: “Love that Alesha Dixon wore a #BlackLivesMatter necklace. If you’re offended by it you are clearly part of the problem. Go run and take a jump #BGT.”
A third agreed writing: “I love how Alesha doesn’t give a f and is trolling the gammons who moaned about Diversity on #BGT by wearing a BLM necklace.”
