LITTLE Britain fans were in hysterics as Matt Lucas and David Walliams reunited for BBC One’s Big Night In on Thursday.

The legendary comedy duo returned to TV for the first time in more than decade for a side-splitting new sketch.

Matt and David – who recorded the funny sketch from the comfort of their own homes – wore homemade costumes as they took on their iconic characters once again.

Fans couldn’t contain their laughter as the likes of Lou and Andy, Majorie Dawes, Vicky Pollard and Bubbles Devere returned.

One said: “I’ve waited a long time for a reunion and I am very satisfied.”

Another wrote: “Hahaa little Britain was brilliant.”

A third commented: “Absolutely howling at #TheBigNightIn.”

A fourth said: “Little Britain: ‘lots of famous people on tv, they arent as funny as they normally are.’😬😂 this is actually funny and true .”

A viewer added: “The Little Britain bit was the funniest of the night lmao.

The Big Night In has been organised by Children in Need and Comic Relief, with all the money raised going to two charities to provide support during the coronavirus pandemic.

Little Britain’s final series aired in 2008 and included a crew of much-loved characters like Vicky Pollard, Lou and Andy, Marjorie Dawes, Dafydd and Mr Mann.

Matt and David sent fans into meltdown last October when they reunited for a Little Britain radio special – and there’s rumours of a TV series in the works.

Following the show, David said: “There will definitely be some more Little Britain coming. I can’t say when exactly but at the right time and place.”

He went on: “It was fun coming back for radio because that’s where we started. Plus no one expected us to come back on the radio.

“You would have expected Comic Relief or a big live tour. The reaction was great, which was encouraging.”

Matt added to BBC Radio 2 that the pair would “love” to bring Little Britain back to TV “in some way and at some point”, adding that the duo had spoken to Netflix.

Little Britain, which started in 2003, made a final outing on 2009’s Comic Relief, while David portrayed Lou Todd and Emily Howard in later charity sketches without Matt.

Prior to October’s radio special, Walliams and Lucas had not worked together since 2010 comedy series Come Fly With Me.

The comedy duo fell out for many years and stopped working with each other in 2011, amid reports the friendship had become strained.

Matt wrote in his autobiography about how tensions rose between the pair in 2005 during their epic Little Britain Live tour, leading to a spectacular fight backstage one night.

The comedian recently landed a job on The Great British Bake-Off replacing Sandi Toksvig, as well as storming the music charts with his baked potato song.

Matt is giving all the money from the single to help the doctors and nurses working flat out to beat the spread of Covid-19 and save lives.

David, meanwhile, is currently at number one in the UK book chart with Slime, his latest children’s book.
