ALESHA DIXON has scored a string of big hits during her career and  after a five-year break she is finally plotting a return to the charts.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge has revealed she has secretly been writing and recording a “heartfelt” new album, although she is yet to finish it due to lockdown.

But it could be released to coincide with her 20-year anniversary in the industry in January next year, when the debut single from her girl group Mis-Teeq, Why, entered the charts.

Alesha explained: “I was in the middle of writing some great, really authentic songs, really honest. Some of them were actually inspired by this whole craziness that’s been going on in the world.

“I’m ready for the next record. I really want to make a heartfelt, honest record that really has something to say. I’m excited to get back, so fingers crossed.

“I was in the studio writing and then Boris Johnson said lockdown and the session had to stop.

“I got a text the other day from the producer asking if I felt ready to go back in the studio. I am definitely ready, I’m just making sure that we can and it’s allowed and it’s all safe.”

As well as two albums with Mis-Teeq, Alesha has released four solo records featuring hits including The Boy Does Nothing and Breathe Slow.

But her return to music will be juggled with a push to break America as a TV star after landing a judging role on America’s Got Talent: The Champions earlier this year.

She said: “I would love to go back out to America.

“It had been a dream of mine for a very long time to work on American television and that was definitely a ‘pinch me’ moment.

“No matter who you are or what you do, everybody gets to a point where they get itchy feet and they want to try something new and they need to be challenged.

“I like to step into an arena that makes me feel afraid because I know that that’s good for me.

“I know that by stepping out of my comfort zone, great things come from that. So I try to embrace that.

“I was really scared but in the most amazing way.

“I was so excited, I’d just had my daughter and we all went out there together as a family.

“The world is on lockdown but I can’t wait for it to be over so I can hopefully go back out to America and see what other opportunities there are out there for me.”

Good for her.

Shoes look Nike, Mabel

SHE was supposed to be performing at Glastonbury this weekend but at least Mabel won’t be getting her new shoes covered in dust.

The Boyfriend singer posed in these Air Max trainers for JD Sports ahead of the weekend when the festival would have taken place if it hadn’t fallen victim of the coronavirus pandemic.

She is expected to be back on the line-up next year when she will have  more music to showcase.

Following the release of her debut album High Expectations last August, she has been working on tracks and making use of a home studio during lockdown.

With all that time to write, another year should be more than enough time to finally release that second album.

Adele’s tears at Glasto gig

ADELE was one of Glastonbury’s greatest ever headliners when she took to the Pyramid Stage in 2016.

But Jo Whiley has revealed the superstar was in tears of fear minutes before going on.

The DJ interviewed Adele shortly before her set and  said the singer broke down halfway through the chat because she was “absolutely panic stricken.”

Jo said: “She was really scared, really, really scared. We were doing the interview and at one point she had to stop as she was in tears.

“She was saying how much Glastonbury meant to her, and she’d been going since she was a child.

“She was just so stricken with nerves, absolutely panic stricken.”

Jo was promoting the BBC’s The Glastonbury Experience, which is its coverage of the festival’s 50 years across TV, iPlayer and radio this weekend following it’s cancellation.

Jo added: “It was amazing to see somebody like that,  then to witness her walking out on stage, and doing the most incredible set and see the confidence oozing out.

“She had this connection with all these people, and to know that half an hour before  she’d been in tears at the thought of walking out there.”

It’s Britney, beach

BRITNEY Spears masked up for a cute beach date in Los Angeles with her muscled boyfriend Sam Asghari.

The Toxic singer wore a tiny animal-print bikini and made sure to adhere to lockdown rules with a protective face mask.

She shared this photo of herself walking hand-in-hand with Sam towards the sea and the selfie of them sunbathing.

Britney’s clearly been eager to get back on the sand as she captioned the pictures: “All you need is love and the beach.”

After a tricky few years which has seen her take a hiatus from music, I’m glad to see her looking so positive.
