Simon Cowell and James Cordon ‘battle it out to host lucrative One Direction reunion’

IT’S the comeback teenage girls everywhere have been waiting for, and it seems Simon Cowell and James Cordon are battling it out to nab One Direction for their reunion performance.

Simon, 60, and James, 41, are both said to be keen to have the boyband on their shows if they do get back together to celebrate their ten year anniversary.

One Direction are rumoured to be reuniting for their ten year anniversary

The music mogul would like to have the guys sing on Britain’s Got Talent, whereas Gavin & Stacey star James wants them on The Late Late Show.

A source said: “Cowell and Corden are now in a battle for who gets One Direction to perform together again first.

“Simon was their mentor who first had the idea of putting them together as a group and they are one of the most successful acts from one of his shows.”

Simon Cowell formed the boyband on The X Factor and is keen for them to reunite on Britain’s Got Talent

“But while all the One Direction boys adore Simon and enjoy working with him, there are other TV shows today.”

They added to The Mirror: “Harry Styles is very good friends with James’s executive producer Ben Winston – he even used to live with him – so his inclination is to lean towards James’s show.

“The other lads really like James and Ben too and the show is a great platform for them. It’s a tough call.”

James Corden is keen for the group to reunite on The Late Late Show

One Direction’s Liam Payne suggested to James last week that the boy band will reunite to mark their 10th anniversary after being formed on The X Factor back in July 2010.

However, it’s unknown whether or not Zayn Malik would join Liam, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan.

In a special from home version of The Late Late Show, Liam told James that he’s not allowed to spill the beans, however he appeared to confirm plans are in the pipeline for a huge show, TV special and brand new music from 1D.

James is good friends with Liam Payne and spoke to him on his show earlier this week

“I”m not allowed to say too much obviously because I would be giving it away,” the dad-of-one said.

“We’ve been speaking a lot more at the moment, I think we are all feeling that that ten year…it’s a very special moment,” he continued.

Liam said most of his conversations had been with Niall and Louis and that they had gone well.

Rumours have been swirling that the boy band are working together on a variety of hush hush projects to celebrate their decade in music.

Its unsure whether or not Zayn Malik would be present for a reunion with the boyband

Fans noticed that with the anniversary in the diary for 23rd July, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have all re-followed Zayn Malik on Twitter, although he has not followed them back.

Zayn left One Direction in March 2015 and in the band’s official statement, he cited his desire to live as a “normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight”.

The rest of the band went on hiatus in January 2016, allowing all members to pursue other projects.
