Heidi said: “He is going to come to the finale, but do not tell anyone.”

But it is not known in what capacity Simon will appear on the show or if he will dial in via video link.

A close friend of Simon’s told the Mirror it was “very unlikely” Simon would be coming back to work on air so soon.

Simon continues to recover at home after breaking his back in a bike crash last month.

But the supermodel remained mum as to how he would appear on the show

Heidi, Howie Mandell and Sofia Vergara have been holding the fort in Simon’s absence

The X Factor supremo — who smashed three vertebrae when he was thrown from a super-powered electric bike — is recuperating at home in Malibu with partner Lauren Silverman, 43.

Adrenaline junkie Simon was hurt when a £15,000 Swind EB-01 electric bike he was testing for the first time upended in front of his and Lauren’s kids.

But he is “keen” to return to work and it has been reported that he wants to fly to London in October for the live final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Simon, worth an estimated $517million, had hoped to return to work imminently by recording segments to appear in both the AGT and BGT semi-finals but has decided to delay his public comeback.

His replacement AGT judge and very good friend, Howie Mandel, has praised Simon’s strength.

“I would not count out seeing Simon again before this season’s end,” he said.

Howie has come under fire from AGT fans who accused the 64-year-old comedian of trying to “replace” Simon, 60, with tough critique to contestants during semi-finals last week on the NBC competition.

But after the backlash he seemed to soften his approach and fans praised his new “positive” attitude”.

Howie is filling in for his good friend

The Deal or No Deal host appeared to take notice of the backlash from viewers, as he lightened up with his feedback to the acts on Tuesday.

New York dance group W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew performed first and wowed Howie – along with co-stars Sofia Vergara, 48, and Heidi Klum, 47.

“Great opening! You guys were amazing and you really stepped it up,” the comic gushed to the boys as he gave them a standing ovation.

He then told teenage singing sensation Kenadi Dodds that she made a “huge step up” after being blasted for not liking her last performance.

Fans accused the comedian of trying to be too much like Simon, but softened his tone this week after the backlash

After The Bello Sisters stunned with their flexibility once again, Howie noted he was “beyond impressed.”

The TV personality said he was “in awe” of their strength before randomly noting that their mother – who appeared in the pre-recorded package – is “stunning.”

Howie called singer Clina her “one of his favorites” with “loads of talent.”

“Is this worthy of moving on to the finals? I think so… but we will see if it’s enough,” he questioned.

Howie was not easily impressed after the final of the top 44 acts gave it their all for a chance on moving on to the semifinals tomorrow.

The audience – which is watching on virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions – began to boo and scream at Howie.

In fact, the negative reaction from viewers was so explosive, Howie tweeted: “I never thought a virtual audience could boo so loudly.”

Fans took notice of the game show host’s displeased criticism throughout the episode and accused him of trying to sound like the American Idol alum.
