THE cast of Dancing On Ice 2020 have been “banned” from talking about Maura Higgins and Alexander Demetriou.
Stars have been encouraged not to speak out about the pair – because show bosses don’t want the story getting out of control.
It comes after The Sun on Sunday revealed Alex’s marriage is “broken beyond repair” after he grew close to his celebrity partner Maura on the show.
A source told The Sun Online: “They told everyone that nobody should make a comment on social media or talk to fans or media about the story – even if it’s to defend Maura or Alexander.”
They’re hoping that by putting up a wall of silence the story will eventually die a death.
But insiders have told how Maura was kept apart from Alex’s wife Carlotta Edwards at Sunday night’s final over fears of a big backstage bust-up.
Skater Alex wasn’t wearing his wedding ring on the show, having last been pictured wearing it in January.
But Carlotta has been putting on a brave face on social media – despite pals claiming their four-year-marriage is all but over.
Maura’s relationship with Curtis Pritchard ended last week after eight months together.
It has reignited talk of the ITV show’s infamous “curse”, which has seen a series of contestants split with previous partners after finding love around the rink.
Judge Christopher Dean, 61, said: “Romance on ice happens because you get into this bubble and it’s very close, tactile and, more than anything, there is trust that has to go into the celebrity-pro partnerships.
“On Dancing On Ice we’ve had a lot of partnerships that have come together and people that have stayed together — and a lot of babies — on both the production and cast side.”
Jayne Torvill, 62, added: “It’s a good thing so it’s not a curse on the Dancing On Ice side.”
This year Kevin Kilbane fell in love with his professional skater Brianne Delcourt.
The pair even got engaged two months after meeting – and Kevin has dropped hints they’re planning for baby.
