After arriving on the ice on a broomstick from the ceiling, Perri – who is a massive Harry Potter fan -flowed around the ice and impressed the judges in the process.

His Diversity co-star Ashley Banjo was the first to give his score, shelling out the first 10 of the series.

He was followed by John Barrowman and Jayne Torvill, but Perri missed out on a perfect 40 after Christopher Dean gave him 9.5.

Perri was delighted with his total of 39.5 and Ashley couldn’t have been prouder of his pal.

He said: “My heart is beating so fast, I hate to use this word but it was magical.

“There were moments where it looked like you were flying.

“From a performance and choreography perspective I don’t think you could have embodied the film and the character any more.”

Explaining why he hadn’t given Perri a perfect 10, Chris said: “9.5 is not a bad score, your skating speaks for itself clearly.

“I love the way you flow over the ice, but if you’re going to do a proper dance, I felt your shoulders were rounded too much.”

John disagreed, saying: “No one can disarm you of how great that skate was, the characterisation, the music, everything was a 10. It was fabulous!”

Jayne rounded off the positive comments, saying: “It was a seamless performance and on top of that you were skating in a harness, not easy is it?”
