Surprisingly, this will be Jenner’s second stint in the jungle she got through to the last week of the American version of the show back in 2003.

Becoming Caitlyn

Caitlyn Jenner transitioned from Bruce in 2015 – her gender identity became one of the biggest celebrity talking points of the year

Born in 1949 as Bruce Jenner, the native New Yorker was always set for stardom.

A talented athlete, Jenner won the Olympic decathlon gold medal in Montreal in 1976, and smashed the world record.

But behind this glittering success lay intense personal pain, as the all-American hero struggled with the secret knowledge that she was transgender.

In 2015, after decades of turmoil, Jenner finally came out as a trans woman during a TV interview, in which she revealed that she had dealt with gender dysphoria throughout her life.

For all intents and purposes, Im a woman, she said.

Saying Bruce was “always telling a lie,” she added: “He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is.

“And I can’t do that any longer.”

Earlier that year, shed had cosmetic surgery. In her memoir, The Secrets of My Life, she revealed that even though having the operation was a complex decision, it was a complete success: I feel not only wonderful but liberated.

Caitlyn Jenner’s coming out as a trans woman attracted huge public and press attention

Jenner made headlines around the world in June 2015 when she unveiled her new image and name by appearing on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, with the tagline Call Me Caitlyn.

Jenner admits that before she came out as transgender, she considered killing herself because of the intense media pressure.

Her memoir reveals that when a TMZ journalist called to say they had found out she was beginning to transition, she couldnt stop thinking about a gun she kept in her house. Why not use it? Just get it over with?

Ultimately she decided that suicide would be “a terrible way to end my story.”

Bitter divorces

Caitlyn was married to Kris Jenner for over 23 years before they announced their separation in 2013

Before she came out as transgender, Jenner married – and divorced – three times.

She first wed Chrystie Crownover in 1972, and the couple went on to have two children together.

Next, she got hitched to Elvis Presleys ex, Linda Thompson, and had two more sons.

But it was Jenner’s third marriage to Kris Kardashian that garnered the most public attention.

Jenner met Kris the estranged wife of Robert Kardashian, a lawyer famed for defending O.J. Simpson during his murder trial in 1990.

They married in 1991, and Caitlyn became a stepparent to Kris’ four kids: Khloe, Kim, Kourtney, and Rob Kardashian.

The couple had another two children together, Kendall and Kylie.

Their 20-year-long marriage seemed solid and became central to the reality TV show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, which premiered in 2007 and which catapulted the family to stratospheric fame.

But in 2015, they split.

At first, the break-up seemed amicable, until Caitlyn came out as a woman and publicly made accusations about Kriss behaviour towards her.

She told Vanity Fair: “Twenty per cent was gender and 80 per cent was the way I was treated.

She said Kris made her feel weak and inferior and that she became less tolerant of me.

She also described the last year of their marriage as an acrimonious misery and said that Kris had always known she wanted to be a woman a claim Kris denies.

The fallout led to a breakdown in relations with other family members too, including stepdaughter Khloe, who didnt attend Caitlyns 70th birthday party.

An olive branch

Over the next few months, Kris made no effort to hide how hurt she was by Caitlyn’s revelations.

During one episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she said: I really tried hard to improve the relationship and spend a little bit of time, thinking maybe theres something here that Im not seeing. Ive done nothing but open up my home and my heart to a person who doesnt give a s**t. So, Im done.

At the time, Kim spoke out and said there was no chance the pair would ever speak again.

However last December, Kris extended an olive branch to Caitlyn, who attended her famous Christmas Eve party, alongside Kim, Khole, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie.

At the time it was said she only did it for Kendall and Kylie – and to be civil.

But since then, their relationship has gone from strength to strength – with Caitlyn even posting a picture of the pair together to mark Kris’ birthday last week.

Fourth time lucky?

Caitlyn Jenner is now dating Sophia Hutchins – who is 47 years younger than Jenner

Nobody knows what will transpire in the jungle, but whats certain is that when Caitlyn emerges on the other side, her devoted girlfriend will be waiting for her.

Caitlyn has been dating 23-year-old Sophia Hutchins since 2017 after meeting through their shared makeup artist.

Formerly know as Scott, Sophia is also a transgender woman, an aspiring model and an entrepreneur, who has developed an innovative SPF 50+ sunscreen mist which can be applied after makeup, and is set to hit the shelves in 2020.

Its likely that it was inspired by Caitlyns battle with skin cancer in 2018.

And theres no doubt that Sophia will have learned a great deal about running a cosmetics firm from Caitlyns daughter Kylie Jenner, who has built billion-dollar makeup brand Kylie Cosmetics.

Sophia calls Caitlyn her cheerleader.

She gushed: Were partners in everything we do, were inseparable, were business partners, we live together, we share a dog, we share family, we share a life together.

And with persistent rumours of an engagement, could Caitlyn finally be set to get her happily ever after?
