I’M A Celebrity fans reckon last night’s trial wasn’t in the “pitch darkness” after all – saying they could see lights behind the stars.

AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer faced the toughest trial of the series, scrabbling around for stars in two rooms linked by a tunnel.

I’m A Celebrity fans said they could see lights in last night’s ‘pitch black’ trial

Others reckoned they had spotted shadows being cast in the ‘dark’ room

But while the trial was built on the premise that the stars couldn’t see a thing, some viewers spotted lights – and shadows.

One wrote: “If it’s pitch black in there, what the eff is that fat light in the tunnel casting shadows?”

Another tweeted: “It can’t be that dark?! I can see shadows and lights!?”

A third wanted to know: “If it’s pitch black why is there lights and shadows???”

The action was shot in night-vision as AJ scrabbled about in a tunnel

Ant and Dec, who were standing outside, were in hysterics throughout

However, AJ and Jessica were disappointed with their six-star performance

But regardless of how much light there was in in trial, which left Ant and Dec in hysterics, AJ and Jessica struggled to find stars as they blundered about.

Ant McPartlin consoled the pair saying: “It’s not bad considering you couldn’t see anything.”

The former Strictly dancer, 26, and EastEnders star, 28, returned to camp with only six meals for camp – and many fans felt it was just too hard.

One complained: “That was the most unfair trial that I can remember seeing.”

Some viewers felt the Harm-oury task was just too hard to complete

AJ was pushed to his limit when he had to crawl through the connecting tunnel with creepy-crawlies being dumped on him.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV tonight at the later time of 9.15pm
