I’m A Celeb’s Shane Richie once accidentally snogged a man with ‘hairy knuckles and stubble’ and had to ‘run for it’

I’M A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star Shane Richie once accidentally kissed a bloke while on holiday in Spain.

The former EastEnders star, 56, had thought he was snogging a woman but realised his mistake when he realised ‘she’ had stubble.

Shane admits he “ran for it” after the error, which happened during a night out as he and a friend chatted up two pretty brunettes.

Recalling the incident, Shane said: “After talking for a while we all went up for a dance.

“Then, in broken English, they asked if we wanted to go back to their place. We couldn’t believe our luck.”

But I’m A Celebrity star Shane said the mood quickly changed when they stepped outside.

The incident happened when Shane was on holiday during his late teens

“I was looking forward to some rumpy pumpy when I discovered something wasn’t quite right about the girl I’d been kissing.

“For starters she had hair knuckles and stubble.

“My mate was so drunk that even after I shouted across at him he didn’t believe it. 

“There they were standing with Adam’s Apples and my mate wouldn’t have it.”

The star admits he ‘ran for it’ when he realised his mistake

Writing in his autobiography, Rags To Richie, Shane continued: “In the end they got quite angry and, after a bit of arguing, the one I’d been kissing squared up to me.

“So I did what any self respecting man would do. I ran!”

The awkward encounter happened when Shane was in his late teens.

And it’s not the first time the actor – who once admitted he bedded hundreds of girls as a Pontins’ Bluecoat – has got himself into trouble in pursuit of romance. 

Shane later went on to marry Loose Women star Coleen Nolan

The late comic Bobby Ball once threatened to “break Shane’s f***ing legs” after he started dating his now ex-wife Coleen Nolan.

Bobby, who was close pals with the Loose Women star’s dad Tommy, had been left concerned when he found out about the romance.

Shane also revealed in his book: “Bobby said, ‘Don’t you dare break young Coleen’s heart. 

“’This is just going to be a Summer fling for you. But I am telling you now – you break her heart and I’ll break your f***ing legs’.”

Reflecting on the conversation, Shane added: “This was Bobby Ball, my hero, and he’s threatening to break my legs. I was too delighted to be scared.”

He is now happily married to second wife Christine Goddard

In 1990, two years after Bobby’s chat, Shane went on to marry Coleen in Orlando, Florida. They had two sons together, who are now grown up.

But Bobby’s prediction was proved to be right, because Shane embarked on an affair with dancer Clarie Tyler and he eventually divorced Coleen – leaving her heartbroken.

Shane later married actress Christie Goddard in 2007 and they have three children – Mackenzie Blue, 14, Lolita Bell, 12, and Romani-Skye Angel Shelley, nine.
