James usually lives off 4,000 calories today but was reduced to just 700 during his time on the show.

During his exit interview, he admitted that his body shut down because of lack of food.

He told Ant and Dec: My body started to shut down bizarrely, but it was the fact that I couldnt walk past jobs that werent done, so if the water needed topping up, Id go and fill it up.

I was up and down the stairs the whole time and I was burning a lot of calories and a lot of adrenaline, and, obviously, all the walking to go to the trials.

I couldnt concentrate my legs. I had nothing in my legs, I was getting very tired.

Sharing the picture of himself as he settled into life the plush Versace hotel, he told fans: Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me! Sadly I didnt make the cut but I loved every second of my @imacelebrity experience!

The most important thing to me is the opinion and respect of my fellow camp mates, with whom I have lived for the last 17 days. I was truly touched and humbled by their reactions this morning in camp.

Also cannot thank @andrewismaxwell , @adeleroberts and @cliffparisi enough for their amazingly kind and generous words to me today.

Heres to another slice pizza and beer , and on to the next adventure.

Following his exit yesterday, he also addressed claims he’d been bullying over the Dingo Dollar Challenge debate.

He was unrepentant, saying: “I think I would have been ratty if I was fully fed. The Dingo Dollar Challenge is a 50-50 question and they want to have this debate and powerpoint presentation.

“When we come to it, it is put your hand up for a or b. It is not that hard and you have to cut through the nonsense.”
