CAROLINE Flack’s loved ones are filming a “moving” documentary about the tragic star’s life as a “personal tribute”.

The TV film has been commissioned by Channel 4, and will explore Caroline’s public and personal life as told by those closest to her.

Caroline’s life will be explored in a new documentary

The star took her own life in February of this year, aged 40.

Although there has not been an air date released for the documentary, respected director Charlie Russell is at its helm – and the channel’s commissioning editors have shared details of what fans can expect.

Becky Cadman explained: “This film is about and for Caroline.

“A sister, daughter, friend and one of the most successful TV presenters in the country. She openly and honestly shared her struggles with fame and how it impacted her mental health.

“A rollercoaster life told through the memories of the people who knew her best, Caroline’s family and friends, we hope this will be a fitting tribute to her.”

Channel 4 Commissioning Editor Lee McMurray added: “We hope this project will be a testament to Caroline’s character, work and legacy, and we’re deeply grateful to her family and friends for their involvement.”

Last month, Caroline’s mum Christine opened up about her heartbreaking struggle to remind her daughter she had a “fabulous career” before her tragic death.

Speaking to ITV Anglia, Christine said at the time: “We tried to talk to her and say you’ve got this fabulous career and you’ve got a nice home.

“But actually, that doesn’t matter, because that isn’t how they feel. I think when someone is in that place, what we say isn’t being heard.

“She was always frightened that the public would find out that she was vulnerable and she had these dark feelings.”

Christine added: “I used to sit with Caroline and watch television, the same as everybody else, and I would say, ‘Oh I don’t like them’.

“And she’d say: ‘Mum, you don’t even know them.’ It made me stop and think, no I don’t.

“We judge people and we don’t know them. We don’t know what they’re going through.”

At Caroline’s inquest, Christine said her daughter’s death had been caused by the Crown Prosecution Service’s insistence on holding a celebrity “show trial” over a fight she had with boyfriend Lewis Burton.

The CPS decided to make her stand trial for assault despite the fact Lewis did not want charges brought — and knowing Caroline was suffering mental distress.

Caroline, who had a history of depression, denied assault. Her Crown Court trial had been fixed for March.

Her inquest heard that Caroline was distraught in the weeks after her arrest and tormented by the thought of a trial.

In a statement Christine said: “My family and I are totally devastated by the untimely and unnecessary death of my beautiful daughter.

“I believe she was seriously let down by the authorities and particularly by the CPS.

“I believe this was a show trial. I feel the prosecutor was unkind to Caroline and my family.

“I was threatened with arrest when I tried to speak. Being well known should not allow special treatment but should not allow making an example of someone.”
