CAROLINE Flack’s mum Christine has hit out at her daughter’s ex-boyfriend Lewis Burton by claiming their relationship ‘did end her life’.

Grieving Christine has watched former tennis pro Lewis, 28, grow close to Lottie Tomlinson, 22, just six months after Caroline, 40, took her own life.

The new romance led her to comment “he is now in the same pose different girl” on an Instagram picture of Caroline and Lewis cuddling taken in the months before her daughter’s death.

One of Caroline’s followers also voiced their dismay over Lewis’s new relationship and claimed the model’s “womanising ways” were responsible for the tragedy.

Writing under the name ccjep, Christine replied: “I agree.”

While five months ago Christine wrote how she wanted a picture of Caroline and Lewis laughing last summer to be “deleted so much”.

During the inquest into Caroline’s death earlier this month, Christine told how a picture of the bloody scene from the flat her daughter and Lewis shared had “killed her”.

The gory picture was taken after a late-night boozy row which saw Lewis call the police on Caroline.

Christine told how Lewis had then sent the picture of their trashed bedroom to a former girlfriend.

Last month it was revealed Lewis had grown close to makeup artist Lottie Tomlinson, 22, after they hit it off at a house party thrown by Caroline’s best pal Lou Teasdale in May.

They are said to have bonded over their grief, with Lottie, who is the sister of One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, losing her sister Felicite to an accidental drug overdose and her mum Johanna to cancer within the last four years.

The pair are currently Ibiza together and have been pictured passionately kissing on the island.

At Caroline’s inquest Christine said her daughter’s death had been caused by the Crown Prosecution Service’s insistence on holding a celebrity “show trial” over a fight she had with Lewis.

The CPS decided to make her stand trial for assault despite the fact Lewis did not want charges brought — and knowing Caroline was suffering mental distress.

Caroline, who had a history of depression, denied assault. Her crown court trial was fixed for March.

On February 15 she was found dead in her North London flat.

Her inquest heard that Caroline was distraught in the weeks after her arrest and tormented by the thought of a trial.

In a statement Christine said: “My family and I are totally devastated by the untimely and unnecessary death of my beautiful daughter.

“I believe she was seriously let down by the authorities and particularly by the CPS.

“I believe this was a show trial. I feel the prosecutor was unkind to Caroline and my family.

“I was threatened with arrest when I tried to speak. Being well known should not allow special treatment but should not allow making an example of someone.”
