DANCING on Ice star Vanessa Bauer’s ex-boyfriend says they split up because he could not trust her.
Louis Nathaniel ended their relationship days before she grew close to Love Island’s Wes Nelson, her then celebrity partner on the ITV show.
Vanessa, 24, also danced on ice with former X Factor singer Jake Quickenden when he broke up with his fiancee.
She is currently in training with Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant — who recently split from his girlfriend.
Louis, 29, a cruise ship dancer, told HOAR on Sunday: “Vanessa has changed from a naive young girl to this confident boss woman and I can’t imagine us ever getting back together.
“Dancing on Ice is everything she ever wanted. She’s always wanted to be on TV and she’s a show girl and loves the limelight.
“I was offered a job last year and wasn’t happy in England but I knew we couldn’t stay together, I knew there was no chance of Vanessa moving abroad with me.
“She was never going to quit her job on Dancing on Ice and I wouldn’t have expected her to.
“When I’m in the same country I trust her, but being in a different country I wasn’t sure how it was going to pan out.
“We didn’t ever want to end up cheating on each other so we thought it was better to end it.”
Louis was heartbroken to let go of Vanessa, 24, and move to Miami in January 2019.
Within days she was linked to Love Island hunk Wes, 22.
His then girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson, 24, lashed out at Vanessa for what she described as a “tactical breakup”, splitting from Louis just before she started dancing with Wes.
She wrote on Instagram: “Love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!”
Louis says: “Was Wes an issue? Not at the time but I did hear things after we broke up and that was difficult. I was heartbroken.
“It was hard reading about her and Wes — but hearing that your ex is with someone else is always a hard thing.”
Louis spoke to Vanessa in October when she was about to start training with Joe, 18, who plays Jacob Gallagher in Emmerdale.
His model girlfriend Nicole Hadlow dumped him amid concern about his devotion to rehearsals with Vanessa for the new Dancing On Ice series in January.
Louis said: “I guess she’s a beautiful woman and girls get jealous. Vanessa is the type who needs to be in a relationship and she doesn’t want to be single.”
Louis and Vanessa met while working for Royal Caribbean Cruises in 2016.
He added: “On our first anniversary I took her diving in Mexico and we saw a shark and a load of turtles and I’ve never seen someone grin so wide.
“We definitely talked about marriage and kids.”
