DANI Dyer has admitted that she loves her son’s name is isn’t bothered when “people don’t like it”.
The Love Island star, 24, gave birth to her first child – Santiago – last month and her choice of name has raised a few eyebrows with her followers.
Dani and stockbroker boyfriend Sammy Kimmence, 24, welcomed their baby boy into the world on January 23 2021.
After days of speculation, the reality star decided to put the world out of their misery and reveal their choice of name – Santiago, but ‘Santi’ for short.
And many fans have been left scratching their heads as to why the couple picked such a name.
Earlier today the new mum, who admitted last week that she hadn’t washed her hair since giving birth, decided to have a little catch up with her 3.4 million followers on Instagram and took part in Q&A about her new born son.
One fan asked: “What made you decide on the name Santiago? It’s such a lovely name by the way.”
Dani explained that her hispanic roots was one of the main reasons why.
The star said: “My mum is half Spanish and she said the name to me a few times. Then I saw it on a programme and I fell in love with it.”
She continued: “Love that it’s unusual and really doesn’t bother me when people say they don’t like it XX.”
Dani revealed the news on the most recent episode of the Sorted With The Dyers podcast.
The star said: “I honestly can’t believe it, he’s finally here, our little boy. I never thought I’d meet him. I felt like it was going on and on.
“But me and Sammy are so in love with him. He’s just so perfect and the feeling is just incredible, I can’t put into words how it feels.
“I know you’re all probably wondering what we’ve called him. There’s been a lot of assumptions going on, some are actually really funny to be fair, but his name is Santiago.”
Dani also defended the unusual moniker and said: “I know a lot of you are probably thinking ‘What?!’ but that is his name but we are going to be calling him Santi.
“I think it sounds nice on the birth certificate.”
The unusual name is Spanish and means ‘Saint James’ – the patron saint of Spain and the moniker appears to be tribute to Dani’s mum Joanne.
Despite only being weeks old, Santiago has already become one a style icon.
The tot can enjoy his daily naps in style whilst snoozing in a £169 Givenchy sleep suit and a £290 Fendi baby grow.
Dani revealed the exciting news that she was pregnant with her first child back in July.
She wrote alongside an adorable snap of her and Sammy holding her scan: “Little bubba can’t believe you are going to be ours.
“Me and Sammy are so excited to start this next chapter in our lives, feel so lucky and grateful.. 2021.”
The couple – who are now engaged – have known each other for a number of years.
Dani and Sammy ended their relationship before she entered the Love Island villa in 2018, but they soon got back together when Dani split from ex Jack Fincham.
The pair briefly split in March 2020, but soon realised they couldn’t live without each other.
