Dr Alex paid tribute to the “kindest” little brother, who was due to start medical school next month and follow in his big sibling’s footsteps.

It is believed Llŷr would have been 19 at the time of his death.

Heartbroken Dr Alex wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post.

“I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul.

“I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain.

“As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”

Dr Alex has been battling coronavirus on the frontline in his role as an A&E doctor at Lewisham Hospital in London.

Earlier this year he shared how proud he was of Llŷr for following in his medical footsteps.

Dr Alex posted on Instagram in March: “Brought my little brother to A&E today for work experience, he wants to follow in my footsteps and become a doctor.

“Not going to lie I am proud AF!!! There’s 10 years between us and he will be among the next generation of doctors on the frontline of our NHS.”

Llŷr’s cause of death has not been confirmed.
