GOOD Morning Britain’s Alex Beresford cheekily said it was “too early to slide in” as he finally followed Love Island’s Amy Hart back on Instagram.

Yesterday, Alex, 39, made his debut as a host on the breakfast show alongside Kate Garraway who tried to set him up with the reality TV star.

The weatherman made another cheeky innuendo as host on GMB

Surprising Alex with a video message from Amy, 27, this morning, Kate was shocked when he admitted he still hadn’t made a move.

Updating viewers, Kate said: “Remember yesterday we were talking about how Amy Hart has a massive crush on our Alex?

“She pointed out that Alex hadn’t actually followed her back on Instagram.”

Alex interjected to add: “I am actually going to follow her back right now.”

Kate screamed: “Oh my god you didn’t even do it after yesterday? I thought I was really unsubtle in telling you to crack on!”

Playing out the video message, Amy said: “I hear through the grapevine that Kate’s trying to set us up.

“I know you’re very busy after becoming a main anchor this week for the nation’s favourite breakfast television programme but I am ready for the follow back whenever it comes darling. Speak to you soon!”

Kate said: “Oh she’s keen. I feel like Cilla. I’m going to have to buy a hat! It’s so exciting.

“Do you think you’ll have a little slide into the DMs later? I’m trying to get the lingo of young people.”

Naughty Alex replied: “What time is it? It’s a bit early to slide in, isn’t it.”

Kate played matchmaker yesterday on the breakfast show

Reassuring Amy that Alex will be in touch, Kate added: “I’m working on it for you, Amy. I’m working on it.”

Alex presented Good Morning Britain for the first time yesterday – and was flooded with compliments.

Today he told viewers: “Keep it coming” as he thanked everyone for their kind words.

Attention turned to his dating life when Kate quizzed him on whether he was on dating app Tinder after it was revealed that someone was catfishing fans with a fake account using the weatherman’s photos.

She revealed 27-year-old Love Island star Amy had called him her number-one crush.

Kate went on to play matchmaker – and it looks like she could be onto something.

Alex revealed that he had secretly split from his wife Natalia back in June, admitting that he felt “really lonely” after the break-up in an interview for the Britain Get Talking podcast.
