HOLLYOAKS’ newest hunk Callum Kerr was approached to appear on Love Island before joining the soap.

The actor – who plays PC George Kiss in the Channel 4 soap – was messaged on Instagram before last year’s summer series by casting bosses hoping he would appear on the series.

Callum Kerr has teased the explosive storyline that brings George Kiss to the village

A source told HOAR Online: “Bosses wanted Callum after spotting his steamy Instagram posts with his gym-honed body.

“They were sure he would be a huge hit with the ladies in the villa but it just wasn’t to be.

“It was a no go for him. He’s happy in his relationship and he’s an actor and that will always come first for him.”

Months later Callum went on to land his biggest role to date as the hunky police officer in the teen soap.

The actor will be at the heart of the county lines drugs storyline as he tries to get to the bottom of the massive gang operation that is set to destroy lives in the village.

He recently teased how George is hiding a bit of a dark side behind his good-guy policeman looks.

“In the past, Hollyoaks’ police officers have been notorious for getting up to mischief, but so far George is quite a good egg.

“I’ve been filming since November and I’m really enjoying playing the nice guy, but it’s always good to have something a little bit dirty going on in the background.

“Fingers crossed, let’s hope we can get a little bit dark with the character.”

However one thing he is prepared for is the inevitable naked scenes that Hollyoaks has become known for – but he’s managed to dodge filming one so far.

“I’m basically covered from chin to toe – sometimes with a hat on too, so I’ve escaped those scenes so far,” he said.

“Although, I have no doubt that at some point there will be an excuse for Hollyoaks to write in a shirtless scene.

“I joined the gym as soon as I got here and there’s panic working out going on now.”
