The former glamour model made sure to mark his special day as she filled their home with balloons while her son Harvey, 18, baked him a cake.

Love Island star Carl was delighted with the birthday attention and took to Instagram to share photos of the personalised silver balloon arrangement she had made for him, which read “Carl 32”.

He also revealed all the sweet treats he had been gifted on Instagram Story, which included a biscuit box from Sista Bakes.

Katie also showed a glimpse of how they celebrated his birthday on her own account and shared a heartwarming video of her son Harvey singing Happy Birthday to Carl on the keyboard.

As the teen played the tune, the 42-year-old could be seen holding a homemade chocolate cake, which Harvey had made especially for Carl.

Yesterday, the couple were defended by the police after they received a barrage of online abuse for not fining them after their Valentine’s Day trip.

West Mercia Police have insisted that the couple did not break the rules with the 180-mile trip – but added that they “do not condone” her actions.

The authority said in a statement: “While we discourage this kind of behaviour and do not condone it, neither party was found to have broken the regulations, which allow for holiday apartments to provide accommodation for a person who needs it for work purposes, or to provide voluntary or charitable service.

“As we continue to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic it is important people adhere to the spirit of lockdown and protect the NHS.”

HOAR previously revealed that Katie and Carl had been spoken to by police after they were accused of breaking lockdown rules.

However, they dodged a fine when officers ruled they were at the luxury cabins for “legitimate business purposes”.

The couple had left Carl’s home in Essex at the weekend and driven 180 miles to Shropshire, with the pair staying at the luxury cottages at Henlle Hall – the same place they visited with the family at Christmas.

They were seen driving away from the accommodation – about a five-hour drive from their home – in a white BMW.

Shropshire DCI Rik Klair told us: “We received reports on Sunday 14 February of a possible Covid breach at a location near Oswestry.

“Officers attended and after speaking to the manager of the premises identified that two individuals were staying at this location.

“It was found that they were there for legitimate business purposes and were not issued with any fines.

“We are continuing to liaise with the premises to see if any breach of the Covid-19 regulations has taken place on their part.”

Katie had previously claimed that they spent Valentine’s Day in a “love cabin” in Carl’s back garden, telling HOAR: “I never expected all of this. There’s a cabin in the garden and the decorations are unbelievable.

“So much thought has gone into it and he didn’t get anything for free – he designed and paid for it all himself.”

Under national lockdown laws you must stay at home and only leave for a specific purpose or if you have a “reasonable excuse”.

This includes going to work if it can’t be done from home, shopping for essentials, attending education or training, using registered childcare, outdoor exercise and for medical reasons.

The luxurious cottages, which are nestled in the grounds of a Grade II listed house, come with wood-burning fires and romantic jacuzzis.
