Is Love Island on tonight?
ITV2 has made the decision to air reality show Love Island tonight (Monday, February 17).
The dating show will feature a tribute to late presenter Caroline, who was found dead on Saturday, February 15, after taking her own life.
ITV took the step to cancel Sunday night’s (Feb 16) programme following the tragic death of the former host.
Saturday’s Unseen Bits was also cancelled.
ITV released a statement on Sunday saying: “Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news.
“After careful consultation between Carolines representatives and the Love Island production team and given how close we still are to the news of Carolines tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonights Love Island out of respect for Carolines family.
“Love Island will return tomorrow night (Monday) which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts.”
The current Islanders are believed to be unaware of the tragic events, sources told theMailOnline.
Will Love Island be cancelled?
The sixth series has seen two episodes of the show cancelled after the death of its former presenter.
And it is now facing calls for the whole franchise to be axed.
However, new presenter and close friend of Caroline, Laura Whitmore, defended the dating show, telling BBC Radio 5 Live: “Caroline loved to love. That’s all she wanted.
“Which is why a show like Love Island was important to her because it’s a show about love, friendship, having a laugh.
“The problem wasn’t the show – the show to work on is loving and caring and safe and protected. The problem is the outside world is not.”
When is the Love Island final?
ITV has confirmed that the live final of the sixth series will be on Sunday, February 23.
The show will air as usual on ITV2 at 9pm.
