JO BRAND has offered an explanation as to why she isn’t that funny.

The comic appeared on stage at the weekend having “drunk quite a lot of mushrooms” and too much booze.

Jo Brand, who believes she will soon be cancelled, told the audience ‘I have drunk quite a lot of mushrooms and I am quite p***ed’

She told an audience at Latitude Festival in Suffolk: “I turned Love Island down.

“Look at me, I’m a 64-year-old lady and I had brain fog in the menopause and during Covid it got worse.

“And also I have drunk quite a lot of mushrooms and I am quite p***ed.”

Magic mushrooms are a Class A drug and possession can lead to up to seven years’ jail, an unlimited fine or both.

‘I’m going to get cancelled’

On its website, Latitude Festival says it “does not condone the use” or narcotics and reminds visitors that “drugs enforcement laws are as applicable onsite as anywhere else in the UK”, adding that it is “illegal to . . . take drugs”.

During the gig Jo predicted she will soon be “cancelled”, if she hasn’t been already after her joke two years ago about throwing battery acid at politicians such as Nigel Farage.

She even insisted she would be able to beat up the former Brexit Party leader.

The stand-up said: “I am getting on a bit and I’m feeling that I’m going to get cancelled quite soon anyway.

“No, honestly l do, I have quite a big gob on me and I can’t stop myself saying awful things, particularly about Nigel Farage.

“I apologised for that.”

She added: “I could beat Nigel Farage in a fist fight.”

I don’t doubt it.
