LOVE Island bosses have said they wont take action over Siannise Fudges racist Aladdin comment despite it sparking furious backlash.
During last nights opening show the Bristolian angered viewers when she called Nas Majeed Aladdin after reluctantly getting coupled up with him.
While Nas, who has Caribbean and Asian heritage, seemed happy with the comparison, many viewers did not and they rushed to complain to Ofcom about her remark.
But insiders tell The Sun Online that ITV bosses have no plans to speak to Siannise about the comments at all as Nas didn’t seem upset – and even agreed with her.
Siannise, 25, made the comment after the 23-year-old picked to be with her, telling Laura Whitmore: Hes lovely. As well, I love Princess Jasmine and he kind of looks like Aladdin.
Laughing, he replied: Dont even do that to me, Im actually gassed.
Those watching at home werent quite so gassed though and suggested it was in fact racist.
One person tweeted: Wow he looks like Aladdin. Borderline racist but ok #LoveIsland.
Another added: ALL THESE ALADDIN REFERENCES ARE A LITTLE BIT RACIST YOU KNOW #LoveIsland.
While someone else wrote: He doesnt even look like aladdin. These lot are just racists #loveisland.
Nas didn’t seem to mind the comparison to Aladdin
Many complained to Ofcom, with the broadcasting regulator confirming they had 36 complaints in total about her comment.
When approached by the Sun Online, ITV had no comment on Siannise specifically, but added: “We speak to all of the islanders, both before and during the show, to remind them of what we consider to be acceptable behaviour during their time in the villa.”
