LOVE Island viewers were left cringing tonight as Mike was firmly put in the friendzone by Sophie as he desperately tried to flirt with her.

The newly-single ex cop was brutally dumped by Leanne Amaning in last night’s show but wasted no time trying to crack on with Sophie Piper and Jess Gale.

However, his efforts with Sophie appeared to be a non-starter after she immediately referred to herself as his “big sis” during their one on one chat.

Mike, 24, was left flustered by the remark and tried to remind Sophie, 21, that he was in fact older than her.

Viewers flocked to voice their views on Twitter, with one writing: “Mike stop, the fact you continued the conversation after Sophie said big sis checking on you is making me cringeeeeeee #LoveIsland.”

A third said: “She smelt the singleness on mike and tried to friendzone him before he started talking #loveisland.”

While a fourth shared: “Mike just entered the friendzone…courtesy of Sophie! #LoveIsland.”

Leanne was left furious when her ex chatted up the two girls ahead of the shock recoupling.

Her close pal Jess felt Mike was desperately scrambling to find someone and wasn’t swayed by his efforts to woo her.

Mike declared: “I’m going in with all guns blazing” – and that’s exactly what he did.

First, he grabbed Jess for a chat on the sunbeds, telling her: “You and me have a good connection already.”

Then he made a move on Sophie, explaining: “I’m not going to close my mind to any possibilities.”

He told Callum and Nas: I am going to crack on. My feelings for Leanne were real.

“When I feel like the time is right, potentially there could be people in here already that I might be looking at I feel like me and Jess got on a lot.

“And I kind of blocked that off. Also, I never really gave Rebecca a chance. Ive not been able to speak to her at all. And then theres one more person Sophie.

Its a sticky one. We all love Connor. But in terms of attraction, I cant lie, shes a beautiful girl.

There is a shock recoupling tonight which will see one girl leave

Meanwhile Leanne appeared to be having second thoughts as she started to feel lonely in the villa – and jealous that Mike was cracking on in front of her.

Jess asked: Do you ever want him back?

Leanne then replied: I dont feel like I want him back. I miss the company. Its always nice to have someone there.

“Everyones in their couples. I was fine and then you know when it just randomly hits you?

Earlier we saw the 21-year-old old PA Sophie tell Mike: “Just because you two didn’t work, it doesn’t mean it can’t work with someone else who comes in.”

He replied: “Why someone who comes in? Why not someone who’s already here?”

Rochelle Humes’ sister is now single after her man Connor Durman got ejected from the villa when the Islanders were forced to choose which half of the couple to save.

He was sent packing after the cast decided to save Sophie – a decision that left her in tears for much of last night’s episode.
