LOVE Island fans will only have to wait three months for the show’s summer series to start on 1 June, according to an intriguing fan theory.

Viewers on Reddit reckon they’ve cracked the start date of the new series after Laura Whitmore announced during the live final that it would return.

Laura Whitmore is coming back with a new series of Love Island in June, say fans

One wrote: “While there is no set date for the summer version of the show, for the last few seasons Love Island has kicked off on June 3 and 4, respectively – both dates being a Monday.

“Based on this information, we expect the new season to start on eitherMonday 1st JuneorMonday 8th June.”

As many pointed out, that would give the show a head start on the major sporting events that are set to cause turmoil in the schedules this summer.

The Euro 2020 football tournament kicks off in Rome on 12 June, while the Summer Olympic Games begin in Tokyo on 24 July.

The series will return to its usual home of Majorca in Spain

Winners Paige Turley and Finn Tapp may not hold the crown for long

Some fans were delighted at such an action-packed line up, with one raving: “Love Island, Euros and Olympics like f***ing inject it straight into my eyeballs.”

Applications for the summer series are open now, with the deadline closing on April 30.

The Sun revealed last week that Love Island would return for its sixth consecutive series, despite the death of its original host Caroline Flack.

A TV source explained: Love Island was always contracted to run two series in 2020 and the plan remains the same.

“There have been lots of discussions behind the scenes triggered by recent tragic events but Love Island is committed to upcoming series.

The winter version of Love Island ended on Sunday, with Finn Tapp and Paige Turley being crowned the winners, ahead of Luke Trotman and Siannise Fudge.

Footballer and recruitment manager Finn, 20 and singer Paige, 22, followed a long traditional on the show by opting to share the 50,000 prize money.
