LOVE Island star Anna Vakili has returned to work as a pharmacist to help in the fight against coronavirus.

The 29-year-old previously quit her job to appear on the ITV2 dating show last summer and hadn’t returned – until now.

Anna Vakili has returned to work as a pharmacist today

Today she was back behind the counter for the first time offering advice to the general public.

Explaining her decision, she told fans:  “First day back working as a Pharmacist since leaving Love Island. It’s been almost a whole year! Wow can’t believe how fast it’s gone.

“Wasn’t really planning on registering yet but with everything that’s going on it felt wrong not to. We can all fight this together. Stay safe. Stay home. Save lives.”

Anna spent five years training to become a pharmacist, but previously said she had no plans going back to it after Love Island.

Dr Alex George is another Love Island star battling it out on the front line

She said: “The honest answer is that I don’t really want to go back to pharmacy. It was five years of training, so long, but I think I knew throughout the whole time it wasn’t for me.

“Coming from a Middle Eastern background, they’re quite strict on education and you have to do pharmacy, medicine or dentistry.”

However, like so many people around the country she has stepped out to help out in a time of a crisis.

Anna isn’t the only Love Island star to be helping out on the frontline – Dr Alex George is of course hard at work and keeping fans up to date with the situation.

Rachel Fenton – a nurse who also appeared on the show – now has coronavirus

Rachel Fenton had also been working as an orthopaedic clinical nurse specialist but is now off work after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 27-year-old told fans today: “My test came back positive. So many of you messaged me about loss of taste and smell which isn’t in the official symptom list.

“But that was the main symptom for me. I didn’t have a temperature or cough. I just felt very tired.

“I had a bit of muscle achiness and a cold. I have completely lost my taste and smell. It’s a lot more severe.”
