LOVE Island’s latest signing – footballer Finn Tapp – didn’t tell his own club he’s going into the villa.

The 20-year-old from Milton Keynes plays for Oxford City as a defender, but failed to warn them about making his reality show debut.

Despite being a contracted player, Finn flew to South Africa in secret – and the football club has NOT kicked off.

Last night a spokesman tweeted: “The club was not aware Finn Tapp was going on Love Island – this is normal protocol for all contestants. We understand and wish Finn luck on the show.”

Baffled followers replied: “Wtf he just flew to South Africa and you had no idea?”

Another asked: “I guess hes not on contract with you?” but Oxford City replied: “Hi Glen, we can confirm that Finn is one of our contracted players.”

He signed up for Love Island – and didn’t even tell his club

In a further tweet, the club described Finn as their “star young player” – despite himskipping his upcoming fixtures to find love in South Africa.

He signed for the club in 2019 following a successful trial.

In 2018, Finn made his professional debut against Bournemouth whilst playing for his local side MK Dons.

He scored in a 4-1 defeat to Norwich City in 2016 when playing for the MK Dons academy.

But he’s put his footballing career on hold while he tries his hand at reality TV instead.

He’s hoping to find true love in the villa after describing himself as a “relationship kinda guy”.

Before joining the show, Finn said: “Im looking for a partner to come out of the villa with.”

“I know Ill make friends with the blokes in there too so I should be a good contender.”

He says he’s got his eyes on Sinnise, Paige and Sophie and rates himself ” 9 out of 10″.

“Im backing myself,” he added.

“My eyes are my best feature.”

Finn’s arrival with model Connagh Howard was teased in last night’s show – but not everyone was happy.

Connor flew into a jealous rage when he saw love interest Sophie Piper celebrating their arrival.

And he’s not going to be happy when he realises Finn’s got his eye on Sophie and wants to take her on a date.

  • Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
