Laura Whitmore shares excitement as she arrives at Love Island villa

Speaking to People Magazine, Laura, who took over presenting duties of Love Island from Caroline Flack, has stated that she gets ‘Instagram envy’ and will get the chance to see the islanders up close once the show begins tonight.

Laura, 34, said: “You go, Oh my God, look at them in their bikini bodies and theyre on holiday. And why am I not doing that job? You are constantly doing that and then you realise half of that stuff isnt real anyway. Weve got a whole other load of pressures.

She the called for celebs to post more real pictures rather than just the best ones: I put awards pictures up and then think thats not real, she said.

Ive got this internal thing going in my head asking myself, Am I being responsible just putting up the nice pictures? Shall I put up more bad pictures? But I dont want to put bad ones up there! We do have that responsibility ourselves.

Laura is all smiles as she takes her Love Island promo shots

Laura first got her break in showbiz in 2008 when she began to host news bulletins in MTV in Ireland, the UK and pan-European MTV channels.

She was also regularly seen on MTV News hosting special events in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.

The former I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here Now! presenter is pleased with how far she has come and Love Island will appear to be her biggest challenge yet and she plans to grab the opportunity with both hands.

Now is a good time to be a female in the industry, she said.

Davina McCall is someone I looked up to, learning that you could be the lead anchor.

She added: “I grew up with these strong females on TV the Cat Deeleys and Holly Willoughbys, Fearne Cottons and Edith Bowmans. I thought, I will not be the token girl.

Laura is ready to present Love Island for the first time

The presenter of the first-ever Love Island to take place during winter and the series to take place in South Africa, gushed about her boyfriend Iain Stirling, who has been the voice-over of the show hit screens in 2015.

The pair have now been together for two years and Laura says the Scotsman is the key to her happiness.

“Iain can make me happy with a Chinese takeaway! When I feel sad my boyfriend will come home with a Chinese takeaway and Im like, Oh, Im happy again. Its the simple things. Its all food related.

The Irishwoman then opened up on her difficult break-up with the Coronas rocker Danny OReilly when she was filming Im A Celebrity in 2012.

I remember this massive breakup and I was doing live telly. You think youre the only person going through a break-up”,” she explained.

I felt so low because I was trying to pretend everything was OK and I had to have this front.

Now I look back, the only way I could get through was talking to other people. I found great comfort in that.

People deal with things differently. Friends for me was a big thing coming over with ice cream and listening to you whinge.
