LOVE Island’s Scott Thomas has revealed he nearly lost his business over his love of booze after having a massive blow out.

The reality star revealed how his successful PR firm was almost swept away by his love of boozing.

Scott runs Manchester firm the Social PR but in a frank confession on Instagram he’s told how his love of alcohol was affecting his life.

He’s now gone six months without booze after an incident at Christmas which forced him to jet off on holiday on his own to tackle his demons.

Scott revealed: “Last year at Christmas, I had a blow out that nearly cost me a client, it nearly cost me my business, my relationships with my team, my business partner and basically these blow outs, my body was telling me ‘this isn’t for you anymore. You are capable of so much better and every time you want to go out and drink, I’m going to punish you’.”

He added: “There’s no way I was losing the business that I worked so hard for and I wasn’t letting this demon jeopardise that any more.

Since quitting booze Scott has been hitting the gym

“So I booked a holiday on my own to Abu Dhabi, went on my own just to chill and basically reflect.

“I was in quite a bad place. No one would know that from how it looked and that’s what annoys me about Instagram because you don’t get the full story.”

He said he stood in the sea listening to a recording of Denzel Washington, adding: “He said to achieve something you’ve never had you have to do something you’ve never done.”

Scott – who last week showed off stunning transformation of his body thanks to gruelling workouts – added that he vowed to go a year without drink on that day.

Being teetotal has had a positive effect on his mind and body

He said: “I started crying because I know that was a life-changing moment for me. I was scared I wouldn’t be able to do it because everything in my life, all my mates, is based around drinking and partying.”

Scott said he was worried that he was going to be “that boring guy” but added: “But it’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me . It’s not easy. It’s been a test. I feel unstoppable now. Every single day I wake up and I know I’m moving towards my goal

“That’s why the body transformation meant so much to me because it was my biggest one. Don’t be scared to deal with whatever your demon is head on. Tackle it and you will reap the rewards.”

He said he was filling his time reading books, walking and mountain biking.

Scott admitted he would get so drunk that he got thrown out of his own parties

Scott – brother of soaps stars Ryan and Adam – said he was helping family and friends kick the booze – including his mum who hasn’t touched a drop for four months.

He said: “She says I’m her biggest inspiration so if I can inspire my own mum to do that then honestly, that’s amazing.”

Scott said his drinking stemmed from his earlier career promoting club nights in Manchester.

But sometimes he’d get so drunk he’d been thrown out of his own event.

His brothers have been supportive of him

He began the video revealing: “One of the biggest things for me was drink and that was my demon and even though last year I was celebrating so many good things with work and everything else I felt a bit of a phoney relay because I was just sharing you guys all the best stuff in my life and I wasn’t sharing the things that had gone wrong.

“The low weekends when I’d gone out and I just hated myself for drinking too much or being an idiot.

“I was relying on drink to socialise and be this different person and people didn’t really know the real me.

“People would see me on a night out and go ‘you was off your head last night. I was like wow ‘I don’t even remember that’. It wasn’t me and it really got me down for years when people thought I was something I wasn’t.

He said in the video he was worried about being the boring one

“I was never an aggressive drunk or anything like that. I was more of a balloon. An absolute cannon. Getting chucked out of my own nights and everything else.”

He said he was now seeing a therapist to help him curb his boozing.

“After Love Island and I had the Social PR then I decided everything wasn’t right with me and I decided that I wanted find some help again. I spoke to therapist years ago called Gareth at Man Should Talk and he’s incredible.

“I went to him and I said ‘listen Gareth, I know didn’t stick to it last time but I know I’m going to stick to it this time’.”

Scott says he had therapy, which really helped him

Scott said he was looking for balance, adding: “I just wanted to be the guy who could go out and have a couple of drinks and go home.”

But he said he was still having monster blow outs, adding: “Seeing him once a week and I was then drinking once a month but when I did, I’d wake up on a Monday morning and hate myself.

“I’d train all week in the gym and then this blow out once a month would wipe everything away for me because I’d hit it so hard because I needed that escape – that release.”

But he said the incident at Christmas made him realise he didn’t kick the booze for a longer period.

And he told fans: “Don’t be scared to deal with whatever your demon is head on. Tackle it and you will reap the rewards.”
