MEGAN Barton-Hanson shared a “sad and broken” picture from 2018 and said she “doesn’t recognise herself” in it.

The Love Island star, 26, encouraged her fans to check in on their friends and families, especially the “successful & strong ones”.

Megan Barton-Hanson said she doesn’t recognise herself

Megan said they are the best at “masking their mental health” – just like she was in the pic taken from a two-year-old video.

It shows the Love Island 2018 star posing for makeup artist Emma Chloe, looking at the camera then glancing down.

She wrote: “I saw this video come up from two years ago, I didn’t even recognise myself. I mean my makeup looks insane. And obviously it’s me but I look so sad and broken. So I wanted to to [sic.] share two things with you

“1) people put on a front. CHECK IN ON YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY. Especially the most outwardly happy, wealthy, loud, successful & strong ones.

She asked her fans to check in on their loved ones

“They can be the best at masking their mental health because they are ‘the strong one’.

“2) Just a gentle reminder to love yourself especially through dark times. when you can’t see things getting better anytime soon, I promise they will.

“Life and your mental health are journeys, constant ups and downs but the highs are so much more special when you’ve pulled yourself out of that low.”

She added: “That got soo deep but yeah shocked me to see how sad I looked. And if my rambling resonated woth [sic.] even a few of you that’s the goal.”

Megan’s post to her fans

The star previously opened up about how she wanted to kill herself during a six month battle with depression just six months before her Love Island stint.

Sadly the reality TV star has had several members of her family – including her great uncle and father’s cousin – lose their life to suicide.

In an interview with musician Hussain Manawer, Megan said: “I have struggled with this on and off throughout my life. Depression.

“I remember even this year in January I was on the sofa with my mum asking her permission. Asking ‘can I kill myself?’

Megan revealed she’s much happier now

“And there was nothing she could do. She told me to call 111. It’s the worst thing watching someone you love suffer. And you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped, they can’t see the light.”

Before entering the Love Island villa Megan was having therapy once a week, and doing meditation and yoga to help with her depression.
