DR Alex George hoped to set hearts racing when he entered the Love Island villa in 2018 – but he failed to find love.
The telly doc is now working hard in a London hospital as well as championing mental health. Here is all you need to know.
Who is Dr Alex George?
Dr Alex George is an A&E doctor, currently working at the University Hospital Lewisham in South East London.
The 30-year-old, who is originally from Carmarthen, Wales, studied medicine at Exeter University.
He shot to fame in 2018 after appearing on Love Island.
However, after the show he returned to his job as a doctor.
In 2020, Dr George gave the general public valuable insight into a hospital’s ICU as he and millions of other NHS workers were on the frontline battling coronavirus.
He has also continued to promote awareness of mental health after his younger brother Llyr took his own life at the age of 19.
It prompted Prime Minister Boris Johnson to appointed Alex as a Youth Mental Health Ambassador in February 2021.
Paying tribute to his brother on Instagram in July, Alex wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe it’s been a year. Some days I really can’t accept or understand that you are not here. We miss you so much Llŷr.
“You give me so much strength, even when times are tough and it would be easy to give up.
“Mum, Dad and Elliott are doing ok, they miss you so much too. I would do anything to go out for a spin in the car with you again. Love you.”
What does Dr Alex George do when he’s not working in A&E?
Dr Alex has a gig as a TV doctor on Good Morning Britain.
He steps in for Dr Hilary Jones when the latter can’t make the show.
Alongside his ambassadorial role, has also produced his own podcast and written his own book.
In 2019, Dr Alex appeared on Celebrity MasterChef.
Does Dr Alex George have a girlfriend?
In June 2021, Dr Alex revealed that posted pictures of a romantic getaway in Cornwall with his new girlfriend Ellie Hetch.
A source told the Mail: “‘Alex and Ellie have been dating for six months now, and it’s beginning to get serious between them.
“They’re currently enjoying some much-earned time away in Cornwall, where they’ve been relaxing and spending time together outdoors.”
It was Alex’s first public relationship since his split from Ibiza Weekender star Amelia Bath.
The pair started dating in 2018, but after spending 102 days apart in the first coronavirus lockdown, they went their separate ways.

It took a long-time for Alex to couple up but he eventually made a connection with Alexandra Cane.
But it wasn’t long before the love doctor got cold feet and dumped Alexandra.
Alex later revealed that he had went on an “extreme” diet and worked out two hours a day for five months to get a six pack before his stint on the reality show.
He explained: “I restricted my diet. I removed everything apart from basic components that would make me lean and lose weight. I exercised excessively.
“I cycled an hour then I was gyming for an hour which was an unhealthy amount to exercise every day.”
