Contestants of the hit ITV2 show usually rake in the cash with brand deals and public appearances, but as everyone is now isolating, this hasn’t been possible.
Finn Tapp and Paige Turley won the first ever winter season of the reality programme on February 23, but less than a month later the UK went into lockdown.
“The Winter Love Island stars are set to lose huge amounts of money, some contestants up to £500,000,” claimed Jack Cooper, a PR expert at EdHopkinsPR.
“Brand deals at the moment are at an all-time low, many companies are not able to afford the usual Love Island prices for sponsorship deals.
“They are also missing out on club appearances due to them being closed, which could have earned them up to £5,000 per hour,” he continued to Metro.co.uk.
“With no events to attend, they are also missing out on a huge range of exposure in the media, having no stories for the press to write about.”
“Many of the participants have approached us to represent them during this tough time. Due to our books being full and also the lack of opportunities in the industry at this time, we have had to decline them,” Jack added.
However, he also said that those couples that are still together could benefit later down the line if they remain an item.
“People are interested in keeping up to date with what they are doing, especially if they are isolating together,” he said.
“Being in a couple brings up their financial worth, and in some circumstances could secure them a deal of up to £10,000.”
Meanwhile, stars of the summer 2019 series such as Maura Higgins and Amber Gill were predicted to make £1 million each by the end of 2019.
Maura has since gone on to compete in Dancing on Ice and been the face of lingerie brand Ann Summers, while Amber bagged a lucrative deal with online clothing brand, Miss Pap.
