LONDONERS are now able to get their Aldi shopping delivered to their door on the same day they place the order via Deliveroo.

Shoppers in Nottingham have already been able to take advantage of the speedy service since the trial was launched at the Daleside Road store last month.

Over 200 essential Aldi items are available to order through the service

Since then, the discounter has silently rolled out the scheme to eight other stores across the Midlands, although it is yet to say which ones.

From today, customers in London will also be able to place their order from the Aldi store in Camden.

It means that shoppers in West Hampstead, Belsize Park and Mayfair will be offered same-day delivery on their grocery orders – and it could arrive within 30 minutes.

You can check if you fall into the catchment area by logging onto the Deliveroo app and if it shows up as an option when you fill in your postcode then you are eligible for the service.

Deliveroo says it can deliver your Aldi shopping within 30 minutes of placing an order although it can take longer

Under the scheme, shoppers can pick from over 200 Aldi products, which will initially consist of a range of essential items, such as bread, milk and fresh produce.

Items are chosen and packed by Aldi staff in-store for delivery via Deliveroo’s network of riders.

The supermarket hopes to roll out the scheme to all stores across the UK by the end of 2020 if the trial is successful.

Deliveroo is free to sign up to but it does charge a delivery fee, which can vary by retailer and how far you live from the businesses that you’re ordering from.

To order groceries from Aldi, you’ll be charged £4.99 per order and there’s a minimum spend of £15.

Individual product prices will vary via Deliveroo compared to in store, which means they’ll likely cost more as you’re paying a premium to not leave your home.

Aldi doesn’t currently offer online grocery deliveries, although in April it launched a £23.99 essentials home delivery food box containing 22 items including tinned soup, rice and pasta.

The box is designed specifically for those struggling to get to stores due to the coronavirus crisis – with the price including delivery.

You can also order some of Aldi’s Specialbuys online, which vary weekly from gardening products to homeware, as well as alcohol.

There is a fee for this though – home delivery is free on orders above £20 or £2.95 on orders under this with goods currently taking between three and ten working days to arrive.

Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco have all offered home delivery services for years now, each setting their own minimum spend and delivery fees.

Discounter Lidl is yet to move online, but we’ve recently seen Co-op and M&S Food also partner with Deliveroo for nationwide deliveries.

M&S charges a flat £4.99 delivery fee, while deliveries fees for Co-op vary depending on how close you are to the shop.

Deliveroo and Uber Eats also have partnerships with local corner shops nationwide, which you can use to order essentials from – here, fees vary by retailer.
