BRITAIN’S first coronavirus-proof gym is ready to open when rules are relaxed.

Feelgood Fitness and Wellness Centre has pods around workout machines, a one-way system and strict no stop and chat rules.

The gym uses screens, a one-way system and strict no stop and chat rules to keep fitness fanatics safe

It has been designed so people will easily be able to see the person next to them – vital for couples who like to exercise together.

Owner Aaron Tyler, 41, started his business in Basildon, Essex, in April last year, but members cancelled during the lockdown.

He said: “Sadly we’ve now lost the vast majority of members.

“Week after week I was seeing them cancel and of course I understand that as times are tough for everyone at the moment.

“I did not want to sit back and wait for the unknown as if I lose this, I lose everything.

“Six or seven weeks ago I was seeing the the trend for shops to put up screens and I was really surprised no-one had thought of that in the fitness industry.

“We’re now ready to reopen as soon as we get the green light.”

Feelgood Fitness and Wellness Centre was one of the first gyms in the country to be ready to reopen and now Aaron is advising other businesses on how to make the important changes.

Gyms, leisure centres, and all the other normal fitness activities could potentially return at the start of next month.

Aaron says Feelgood is ready to open its doors to the public as soon as the Government clarifies its position.
