SHOPPERS waste their money if they buy any television of 32in or less, an investigation suggests.
Smaller sets came up short for sound, vision, clarity and extras such as programme guides and catch up TV apps, consumer champions found.
Which? has not given a positive review of a set 32in or less since 2014, despite testing hundreds of TVs a year.
By contrast, at least 200 bigger models had received its “Best Buy” accolade. A 32in set — regarded as large for the average living room before the onset of digital and flat screen tellies — scores just 49 per cent in Which? reviews.
The most popular screen size with its members today is 49in.
Many small sets were found to have a tinny audio and lacked the 4k picture quality of larger screens.
For a living room with seats more than 8ft away, a 55in screen would provide the best viewing experience, said the consumer group.
Natalie Hitchins, from Which?, said: “When it comes to TVs, size definitely matters.
“For small spaces, streaming content on a laptop or tablet may just offer a better experience than a small TV.”
