WHILE that extra hour of sleep went down a treat this morning, a darker, colder Monday morning won’t be so popular.
With gloomier starts to the day now the clocks have gone back, many of us will struggle to drag ourselves out of our cosy beds, me included.
Luckily, I know a few tricks to make getting up a little easier — and they won’t cost the earth.
Bright idea: Wake-up lights can cost up to £200 from popular brand Lumie, but I’ve tracked down a few cheaper options online. FITFORT’s alarm clock has dozens of five-star reviews — and is just £24.99 on Amazon.

Easily suede: There’s nothing worse than getting out of bed and stepping on to a cold floor. For cosy and sturdy slippers, I love the suede mules from Debenhams, at £20. They look like a take on the Ugg slipper, which comes in at an eye-watering £80.

Be minted: Showering with a mint body wash will wake your whole body up. Aldi’s mint shower gel, 55p, is a great dupe of Original Source’s mint shower gel, which can set you back as much as £1.95.

Mug up on this: Who doesn’t love a strong morning cuppa to get rid of grogginess? If you don’t have time to neck a cup before heading out, pop it in a thermal coffee mug before leaving. I love the cheap and cheerful Wilko 450ml stainless steel travel mug. At £2.25, it’s cheaper than the similar one sold at M&S for £15.
