These tasty treats can be snapped up at low costs this week

Get Morrisons’ frozen chicken drumsticks, 1kg – great for the recipe below – for £1.75, down from £2.72.

Tuck into a Leon Thai green chicken curry, on offer in Sainsbury’s at an introductory price of £3.50. Mix and match with other Leon dishes while the offer lasts.

Grab a main course, such as maple and balsamic gammon shanks, a side dish, dessert and drink for £10 in Tesco’s meal deal for two.

For a tasty TV dinner, Iceland is serving up a pizza, fries or wedges and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for £4.50, saving £1.

Pizzas

(Makes four pizzas)

These delicious pizzas are perfect for sharing with the whole family

Prep time: 70 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins

YOU NEED:

  • 150g passata
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian herbs
  • 4 whole pizza bases
  • 1 tsp pesto
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 250g mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices Parma ham
  • 4 vine tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 small handful rocket leaves, to garnish
  • 1 handful basil, to garnish

METHOD:

  1. Place the passata, tomato puree and dried herbs into a bowl. Season to your taste and mix well.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180C fan/200C/gas 6 then divide the tomato sauce evenly between the four pizza bases, and spread out the sauce evenly across each base, leaving a 1cm border around the edge.
  3. Mix the pesto and olive oil in a bowl and set this to one side.
  4. Tear the mozzarella and scatter over the pizza bases. Tear the parma ham and place evenly over the pizza base (for variations, you can add any of your favourite toppings).
  5. Arrange the sliced vine tomatoes on the remaining bases and drizzle the pesto mix over the top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for ten to 15 minutes.
  7. Cut each pizza into eight slices and garnish with rocket leaves and basil.

Chilli chicken drumsticks

(Serves six)

Drumsticks are a total crowd-pleaser and very tasty

Prep time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins

YOU NEED:

  • 1kg chicken drumsticks
  • 250ml clear honey
  • 250ml tomato ketchup
  • 100ml lemon juice
  • 200g demerara sugar
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 red chillies

METHOD:

  1. Heat oven to 220C /fan 200C/gas mark 6 and place the drumsticks on a large baking tray.
  2. In a pan, mix together the honey, ketchup, lemon juice, demerara sugar and smoked paprika, and simmer until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Cool the mixture slightly then pour over the drumsticks.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes until sticky and golden, then add more glaze and sprinkle with sesame seeds and finely chopped chillies.
  5. Cook for a further 15 minutes until the chicken is piping hot throughout.

MARKET STREET TIP: Serve the drumsticks with healthy mixed veg and rice in winter or a chopped veg salad when warmer.
