Four kind ways to say thank you to your hard working posties and delivery drivers

WITH lockdown and Christmas shopping under way, families have been getting more deliveries than ever.

Postal workers have really been put to work — so I think it’s time for a little thank you.

How you can say thank you to Britain’s hard working delivery men and women

Here are a few wallet-friendly ideas to treat your postie . . .

POSTIE PACK: Nominate a local postal worker for a Christmas thank you package at online marketplace notonthehighstreet.com.

Anyone whose name is put forward gets the chance to win one of 5,000 “postie packs”, which can be left in your letter box for your postie.

Each pack contains a chocolate bar and an “Ode To The Postie”.

THUMBS UP: Millions of us like a chat with our postie, but that’s harder to do these days.

Instead, Royal Mail is asking you to give your postie a great big thumbs-up to say thank you for their hard work.

It is also asking you to share a selfie on social media using the hashtag #ThumbsUpForYourPostie, as well as encouraging your kids to put thumbs up pictures in the window.

You can download templates to colour at royalmail.com/thumbsup.

CUP OF COCOA: I often look out my window and think to myself, they must be freezing out there delivering post all day.

So why not treat them to a warming cup of hot chocolate?

A 350g tub of Maltesers malty hot chocolate is on offer for £2, down from £2.50 at Sainsbury’s.

Fill a flask with hot chocolate and pop it on a tray with Asda’s party cups, £1 for 15, for all your delivery workers that day.

Place a bin out there too for them to dispose of cups after use.

Show that you live on a Quality Street by thanking your postie

BARGAIN BOXES: For something more fun and festive, I put chocolates in a bowl outside my door.

To keep things hygienic, I always use separately-wrapped treats.

You can currently get three 650g boxes of Quality Street for £10 at Farmfoods.

Usually they’re £3.99 a tub so that’s a saving of £1.97.

You could also pick up two chocolate sharing tubs, including Celebrations and Heroes, from Tesco for £7, usually £4 each, saving you another £1.
