OVERLOADED delivery workers have left Christmas parcels in a cat poo bin and a 400,000-volt electricity substation, angry shoppers say.

Millions fear gifts will not arrive in time, with some Black Friday orders already two weeks late.

Currys, JD Sports, John Lewis, Ikea and Boots are among stores whose November 27 orders have still not been delivered.

With a record 15million parcels a day, some Royal Mail second-class post is taking over two weeks.

As couriers struggle, one Twitter user wrote: “The Amazon driver put our parcel in the cat poo bin.”

Amazon customer Alan O’Donohoe said his parcel was hurled and landed in the substation with a “Danger of Death” sign next to his Preston home.

He quipped: “The kids always wanted Transformers for Christmas.”

Royal Mail, delivering an average of around 7.5m parcels-a-day, said: “Please post items for Christmas early.

“Covid restrictions are impacting local delivery. Christmas is shaping up to be our busiest on record.”

Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, said: “Couriers are under pressure, with parcel totals far higher than previous Christmases.

“If you haven’t ordered by now, you might not get it in time.”
