NUTS about Nutella? Today is the brand’s self-declared National Nutella Day.
With a jar selling every 2.5 seconds, it’s a big hit up and down the country.
But many also want to go for cheaper alternatives.
Not all foodie doubles are created equal — but here’s a sweet lot that save dosh without much difference . . .
NUTS FOR THIS: Nutella fans will know just how expensive jars can be (especially if you enjoy multiple spoonfuls in one sitting). But, I’ve been amazed by Nutoka from Aldi — it’s one of the only copycat spreads where I can barely tell the difference. And it’s only 99p a jar, far cheaper than a £2.90 jar of Nutella from Asda.

LESS TO ’COFF UP: Everyone loves a Lotus Biscoff biscuit. The irresistible snacks even have their own spread. But if you want to cut the cost of enjoying that caramelised taste, try heading to Lidl and grabbing a pack of Sondey Speculoos biscuits for 65p. They taste just like the cult Lotus Biscoffs, which cost almost double at £1.25 in most supermarkets.

SLICE THE PRICE: I have to say, Mr Kipling Angel Slices have been going down a treat with a cuppa this lockdown. But at £2.40 for a box of eight from Waitrose, this soon adds up. I’ve started picking up a six-pack of Tesco own-brand angel slices for £1 – and I was impressed with how similar they are for so much cheaper.

SHAKE UP: Love a Frijj chocolate fudge-flavoured milk? It’s a lunch box favourite at £1 for 400ml at Tesco. Try switching for Aldi’s one-litre 79p version. You get more than two chocolate fudge Frijj’s for less than the price of one. What’s not to like? You can always pour into smaller bottles to share it out or make it last longer.
