LOCKDOWN babies are now arriving into the world.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined the party as they announced last week they are expecting their second child this year.

Follow these savvy tips to make it easier on you as you cut costs on your newborn baby but without cutting corners

Here I suggest how parents can cut costs — but not corners — with newborns . . .

GROUP TOGETHER: Babies grow quickly — which can leave mums and dads forking out for every growth spurt. Parenting expert Chaneen Saliee, at wearetheempowered.com says: “The saying, ‘babies are expensive’ does not have to be true and baby clothes can be bought new or second hand from a range of places.”

Save pounds by checking out secondhand groups online. You can find specific groups for reselling baby items on Facebook. Not only will you save dosh on dressing your little darlings, you can also sell on those barely worn baby outfits.

FURNITURE FIND: Aldi’s latest baby event is full of bargains, ranging from cots to books. The cheap and cheerful furniture from Aldi’s Mamia collection is great. Prices range from £99.99 for a baby changing unit, with similar baby changing units cost around £189.99 at wayfair.co.uk. When it comes to extra baby furniture, Chaneen adds: “Kid’s furniture is often more expensive than regular furniture — there’s no reason why you can’t use regular furniture to store your child’s belongings.”

NCT SALES: Make sure you check out National Childbirth Trust’s nearly new sales, you can find out information at nct.org.uk. At these sales you can buy and sell quality (sometimes even designer) items — plus they fundraise towards the NCT’s work.

Shopping at these is a great way to bag fantastic baby bargains as well as being a real way to shop for a good cause.

SEASONS TO SAVE: Your buggy will likely be one of your most expensive buys when it comes to your new baby — but it’s one of the most necessary. Save dosh by looking at all the colour options available for the model you’re fond of. Big brands release different colours every year and by selecting a different shade from a previous ‘season’ you may grab yourself a top of the range pram for far less.

For example, if you don’t mind a pop of colour, you can currently nab a Cybex CBX Kody Pushchair Stroller in Crunchy Red for £169.95 at emmasdiary.co.uk – it’s RRP was previously £499.95.
