IKEA stores are temporarily closed because of the third coronavirus lockdown in England.

Ikea has closed all its England stores for browsing
Is Ikea open?
Ikea stores in England are temporarily closed due to the third nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
This is because homeware stores are not considered to be essential. The same goes for shops that sell clothing and toys.
They will remain closed in England until lockdown measures are lifted, which is expected to be mid-February at the earliest.
Stores also remain closed in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Ikea food markets are open in Croydon, Greenwich, Nottingham, and Wembley.
In the Nottingham store, the Ikea Bistro is also open for takeaway food.
All indoor dine-in restaurants are closed, as well as outdoor play areas and Småland crèches.
What safety measures are in place?
Ikea introduced a string of safety measures when stores reopened after the first lockdown.
These include two-metre social distancing, screens, cashless payments only, and deeper and more frequent cleaning routines.
At the time of reopening, country retail manager and chief sustainability officer Peter Jelkeby said: “Health and safety remains our top priority, and that’s why we’ve put in place extensive measures to ensure the safety and comfort of customers and co-workers.”
IKEA is open for click and collect, but there are strict safety measures
Can I order for home delivery?
Yes, customers are able to order online and will have the items delivered directly to their doorstep.
There is a delivery fee though, which ranges from £2 to £50 depending on the service you choose.
For example, the cheapest option is to have your parcel delivered to a DPD pick up point.
Home delivery, which can take one to three days, for a parcel costs £4 if it’s small, £15 for a medium package and £19 for a large parcel.
Selected day delivery for large orders cost £40 and takes four to 30 days, while express delivery costs £50 and takes one to three days.
Ikea says delivery times may be longer than usual due to high demand.
Are click and collect options available?
While you can’t shop in stores, click and collect facilities in England and Wales are open throughout lockdown which means you can order online and pick it up at an Ikea store.
Click and collect is currently not available from Ikea’s Belfast store in Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, click and collect services will also be banned for non-essential retailers in Scotland from 00.01 on January 16.
Where the service is available, shoppers can pick up their orders contact free and can choose when they want to collect it, and it can be as soon as the next day.
The extra safety measures mean staff won’t be able to help load heavy or bulky items into your car.
The retailer suggests there are no more than two people per vehicle and that you stay in your car when possible.
Click and collect is £5 or free when you spend over £100. If you order click and collect to a DPD pick up point, costs start from £2.
Ikea first closed all its UK and Ireland stores on March 20 last year following the first coronavirus lockdown.
It started to reopen shops from June with shoppers queuing for hours to get inside.
