RESTAURANTS and pubs in England and Northern Ireland are now allowed to reopen their doors for customers to dine-in, but major chains including Greggs and McDonald’s won’t be doing so.

Pubs, restaurants, cafes, and fast-food outlets reopened from July 3 in Northern Ireland and from July 4 in England.

Greggs is among the major chains that won’t reopen for dine-in customers this weekend

In Scotland, beer gardens can reopen from July 6 and indoor restaurants can go back to business from July 15.

While pubs and restaurants in Wales are due to reopen from July 13.

Food and drinks outlets have only been allowed to operate a takeaway or home delivery service throughout lockdown but devolved governments have begun easing lockdown rules.

But while the likes of KFC and Pizza Hut have now reopened some of their seating areas – see the full list of food chains reopening for dine-in customers – others say they’re not ready yet.

Here’s a round-up of the chains where you can’t dine-in just yet.

Burger King

HOAR has asked Burger King if it plans to reopen for dine-in soon and we’ll update this story when we know more.

But the chain’s website and social media pages indicate it has no plans to allow customers to dine-in yet.

If you’re in need of a Whopper fix you can, however, order home delivery via Deliveroo or Just Eat at some branches. Just remember to factor in delivery fees before you buy.

Some Burger King branches are also open for walk-in takeaway orders and drive-thrus – use its branch finder tool to check the options and opening hours at your nearest.

Greggs

The majority of Greggs’ 2,050 bakeries across the UK reopened in early July following a widespread rollout beginning in June.

But it’s confirmed it’s only offering takeaways for now and it won’t reopen its seating areas yet.

The bakery chain couldn’t tell us when it hopes to reopen for customers to dine-in again.

McDonald’s says it’s not ready to reopen for dine-in customers yet

McDonald’s

McDonald’s says it “isn’t ready” to reopen for dine-in customers, so you won’t be able to eat your Bic Mac in branches just yet.

But it continues to offer home delivery, takeout and drive-thru orders in 1,260 restaurants.

Not all locations will offer each delivery method, so be sure to check the McDonald’s restaurant finder to check what your local is doing.

Subway is only open for takeaways and home deliveries for now

Starbucks

HOAR has asked Starbucks if it plans to reopen for dine-in soon and we’ll update this story when we know more.

But the chain’s website and social media pages indicate it has no plans to allow customers to dine-in yet.

Some cafes are however, open for takeaways, deliveries and drive-thrus.

Use Starbucks’ store locator tool to find your nearest and to check its opening hours.

Subway

Subway has confirmed it’s not planning to allow customers to eat-in yet, saying it’s still reviewing how to do this safely while keeping social distancing measures in mind.

But hundreds of branches are currently open for takeaways and deliveries.
