MCDONALD’S is adding five new items to its menu today including a spicy quarter pounder with cheese and a McChicken BLT sandwich.

The spicy quarter pounder features a beef patty, two slices of pepper jack cheese, onions, jalapenos, mustard and a spicy ketchup in a sesame seed bun.

The new spicy addition is priced at £4.79 – which is just over £1 more expensive than the regular quarter pounder, priced at £3.49.

While the McChicken BLT, which costs £5.19, is just like a normal McChicken sandwich – a crispy chicken patty with lettuce and mayo – but with added bacon.

McDonald’s is also releasing a deluxe version of its quarter pounder – which it describes as a “fancy” version of its iconic burger.

The quarter pounder deluxe – priced at £4.89 – contains a beef patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles, onions, mayo, ketchup, mustard, and streaky bacon.

The new McChicken BLT sandwich will be around for six weeks

Finally, Maccies is also bringing back its nacho cheese wedges – which come in two sizes – and it’s adding a salted caramel latte to its menu.

The wedges – which cost £1.79 for a regular portion with five bites, or £4.79 for a sharebox with 20 pieces – are bites of melted spicy jalapeno cheese, covered in fried tortilla chips.

The new menu items will be released today, October 7, for six weeks until Tuesday, November 17.

Customers can order them in restaurants, drive-thrus or for home delivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat.

Keep in mind that Uber Eats and Just Eat charge a delivery fee per order, which will vary depending on how far away you are from the restaurant.

Prices vary between branches, so make sure you double-check what you’ll pay in advance.

The food update comes after McDonald’s confirmed it was adding the triple cheeseburger to its menu as a permanent item.

It’s also revealed that its double quarter pounder burger is now on the menu for good.

McDonald’s is still running a reduced menu due to having less staff on shifts following the coronavirus pandemic.

The fast food chain also continues to have safety measures in place, such as hand sanitiser stations at entrances and perspex screens at order points.

Customers need to wear masks when collecting food or dining in, except when they’re sat down and eating.

They can also only dine in until 10pm, due to the new coronavirus curfew for hospitality businesses – but customers can order food for delivery or use drive-thrus after this time.

We’ve rounded up five changes you need to know next time you dine-in at McDonald’s.

McDonald’s shut all of its 1,350 restaurants across the UK in March following coronavirus lockdown.

It first started reopening for home delivery orders on May 13, followed by dine-in customers on July 22.
