NANDO’S has reopened 39 more restaurants today, for delivery and collection orders, bringing the total back in business to 93.

It initially began reopening restaurants in April, after it closed all branches due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Nandos has opened more branches for takeaway and delivery orders

At first there were six branches opened, across Manchester and London, for delivery orders only.

This trial was successful and it followed by opening the doors on 54 more restaurants yesterday and 39 will return today.

Customers can order via Deliveroo, which adds on a fee for delivery, or by click and collect orders placed online via Nandos.co.uk, depending on the restaurant.

When the 39 newly opened restaurants are live on the Nando’s website later today, it will also confirm if they are offering delivery or collection services.

The chain closed all of its restaurants on March 23 when the Prime Minister brought in the coronavirus lockdown, even though it could have remained open for takeaway orders.

This was eased at the start of May with Boris Johnson’s three-step plan to exit lockdown and now all non-essential shops will be able to open from June 15.

It now has 93 restaurants back in business, including those opened this week and in April, our of 340 UK branches – use the online tool to find your nearest one.

Customers are being encouraged not to travel to a restaurant unnecessarily unless they are picking up an order at their allotted time.

The restaurant has made some changes to keep staff and customers safe and to reduce the spread of the virus.

These include Nando’s staff washing their hands more often, keeping social distancing in place while working, and designated areas have been set up for drivers and customers collecting orders.

The chain said PPE is also available for all staff to wear and customers can choose contactless deliveries.

Many food chains have now begun reopening including McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wagamama.

Furniture shops and garden centres have also started coming back including Ikea and Dunelm.

While pubs have also begun preparing to reopen, including Wetherspoons.
