NEXT has launched its popular autumn sale in stores today with shoppers able to bag at least 50% off.

Here’s what you need to know.

Next’s popular sale has launched today

When does the Next sale start?

Next has confirmed its autumn sale started in stores today (Saturday September 19).

Many shops opened early at 7am for eager shoppers hoping to nab discounts, and some will stay open later than usual too.

Opening hours can vary from store to store though so check times using Next’s store locator tool before you head to the shops.

Next also has a clearance section online.

VIP members got early access to the online sale from Wednesday September 16.

Last autumn, Next’s sale also began on the third Saturday of September – Saturday September 21.

Next’s last sale launched on Thursday July 2 at 5am in-store and via the clearance tab online with VIP customers being given early access on Tuesday June 30.

What will be in the sale?

We don’t know what items will be discounted in store, but it’s likely to be similar to the online sale.

Online, Next has at least 50% off clothing and homeware.

The clothing sale includes women’s, men’s, and children’s garments, shoes, and accessories.

It also includes branded items from the likes of Lipsey, River Island, and more, as well as Next’s own-brand ranges.

Can I book a VIP slot yet?

To be allocated a VIP sale invite, which essentially means you get early access online to the sale before everyone else, you will need to:

  • Have successfully created a “nextpay” credit account by 11.59pm on Friday September 11, 2020.
  • Be opted in to receive marketing emails – you can change the setting for this in your online account.

Next says you will have received your early access invite by Wednesday September 16, 2020.

But shoppers on Facebook reported being able to book slots as of September 14 when they logged in to their online accounts.

In the past, you’ve also needed to meet the following criteria to access the sale – we’ve asked Next if this is still the case and we’ll update this story as soon as we get a response:

  • Have a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available
  • Have placed and kept an order from the Next Directory within the last year
  • Have an up to date email address registered with Next, and be registered to receive sale and promotional emails
  • Have received a copy of the Next Directory
  • Have returned less than two thirds of the items they’ve ordered

Time slots are restricted to one slot per customer, although previously you’ve been able to update your slot at any time – we’ve asked if this is still the case.

Slots are allocated on a first come, first served basis and they’re limited.

Next fans advise getting the first slot you’re offered as you’re likely to get better deals.

Also be aware that if you book a VIP shopping slot and do not use it, this may affect your eligibility for any priority VIP online sale invitations in the future.

Think carefully before taking out any store card though.

The interest rate is 23.9%, so you want to make sure you can pay off the items in full each month.

Otherwise the amount you pay in interest will wipe out the savings you make in the sale.
