A TRIP to the movies could soon be back on the cards as more of the big-name cinemas reopen their doors.
But the cost of tickets, drinks and snacks can often be a horror show. So whether it’s a romantic date or family outing you are after, let’s see if we can slash that big-screen spending.
FREEBIE FILM: As part of our Bounce Back Britain campaign and to celebrate the reopening of cinemas in England, Sun Savers has teamed up with Cineworld to offer two free tickets to its cinemas.
See HOAR on Sunday this week for details of how to claim your free tickets — you do need to be a Sun Saver and will need to collect four Sun Savers codes between Sunday and Friday, August 7.
SWEET DEAL: Choccies and pick ’n’ mix are a must-have at the cinema but you can make big savings with a DIY goodie bag.
Head to Tesco where three bags of various sweets cost £1, usually 40p each. Bags of Maynards Wine Gums or Jelly Babies are £1 there, down from £1.48. Then let the kids fill up sandwich bags.
SAVING: 48p on Maynards
TWO FOR ONE: If you prefer watching a DVD rather than being part of a download or subscription service, head to Tesco where you can nab two DVDs for the price of one, with the cheapest free.
You can sell used DVDs on sites such as MusicMagpie.co.uk.
NO LOSS ON LENSES: To make your own 3D lenses, head to thesprucecrafts.com to download a paper template. Print this off and cut out your glasses.
Colour in two squares on a ziplock plastic bag (or plastic sheet), one in red and one in blue using permanent marker. Stick in as the lenses. It really works.
SKY’S THE LIMIT: If you love films, look into getting a Sky Cinema Pass with Now TV. It is currently offering a free seven-day trial, usually £11.99 a month. Plus, you can make your films cinema-worthy by buying a portable projector.
I like the one available at Luckies.co.uk, £17.95 with free delivery — a bargain compared to the popular Kodak Ultra Mini Portable Projector, selling for £179.99 at Amazon.co.uk.
SAVE: £162.04 on projector
