A SENIOR aide to London Labour mayor Sadiq Khan is working from home in California — eight hours behind his boss.
Jack Stenner, 33, earns £120,000 a year as director of political and public affairs — but critics say he cannot do an effective job 5,000 miles away.
Stenner upped sticks and left his swanky East London pad in October just before lockdown.
He now lives in an ocean-facing apartment on the outskirts of San Francisco with girlfriend Yasmin Hussain, 31.
A source at the London Assembly said: “It’s outrageous. He’s been allowed to move thousands of miles away.
“How on earth can he be expected to do a satisfactory job?
“When we are all working it will be the middle of the night there. It has caused a stink.”
Stenner has been one of former Labour MP Khan’s closest advisers for the past seven years.
When HOAR began investigating him he immediately made his Instagram page private.
But he has been posting pictures of stunning views overlooking San Francisco Bay.
He was yesterday enjoying a pleasant sunny day while Londoners shivered.
Shaun Bailey, Tory London Mayoral Candidate, said of Khan: “Why is he using taxpayers’ money to pay his cronies to sun themselves in San Francisco while ordinary Londoners are worrying about their jobs?”
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen blasted: “That is really nice work if you can get it.
“It’s a shame he didn’t take Khan with him given the woeful job he is doing in London.”
A spokesperson for the Greater London Authority, said: “We don’t comment on staffing matters.”
