THE BRITISH government have been urged to rescue the 74 UK citizens stranded on a coronavirus-hit cruise ship in Japan.

They are stuck on the Diamond Princess, which has been sitting off the coast of Yokohama since February 3.

The Diamond Princess has been quarantined for two weeks after returning from a two week cruise

Since then, 454 passengers have been diagnosed with the infection with pressure mounting for the government to step in.

Outside of mainland China, the ship is the the worst hit place in the entire world outside of mainland China.

Despite this, the Foreign Office say they are still considering options for the 74 British people stranded on the cruise ship.

It is said to be considering either bringing the holidaymakers home or sending them into quarantine on the Japanese mainland.

Those on the ship are said to be furious they are still stuck, describing themselves as completely overlooked, neglected and forgotten“.

Another added: I think it is about time Boris got the Brits back to England.

Yesterday 340 US citizens were flown home by their government on a cargo plane, and Australia, Canada, and South Korea have all promised to bring their people home.
