BRITAIN’S third-biggest energy supplier has sparked fury after telling customers to save cash by cuddling pets, eating ginger and porridge, and doing star jumps.

MPs blasted yesterday’s “plainly offensive” advice on how to lower energy bills from a division of OVO Energy.

Former Tory cabinet minister Theresa Villiers said OVO’s advice was ‘pretty insensitive’

Its email revealed ten “simple and cost-effective ways to keep warm this winter”, the Financial Times reported.

Another recommendation was to “get moving” by cleaning your house.

Former Tory cabinet minister Theresa Villiers said the advice was “pretty insensitive”.

She said: “Many people are very anxious about rising energy bills and they won’t take kindly to being told to do star jumps.”
